2019年，我們有幸邀請到王德威院士成為第一屆羅家倫國際漢學講座主持人，並舉辦「危機時刻的知識份子: 歷史、思想——與文學」系列講座，2023年邀請到羅家倫國際漢學講座第一屆客座講座教授魏簡教授進行演講，延續並開展王德威院士「危機時刻的知識份子」之講題。

並非所有知識分子都持有批判態度，或聲稱要為社會說話。在過去的十年裡，中國的一批學者和思想家對自由主義進行了系統批判。他們主張政治主權優於法治，需要將國家［重新政治化」並經常呼應法律理論家卡爾-施密特的觀點。他們與黨國攜手作，就2020年的香港重組、2021年的中國共產黨百年紀念和2022年的「二十大」提出新的想法。在中國互聯網的嚴格控制環境中，他們的看法似乎很受歡迎。但他們的影響力到底有多大？本次工作坊將嘗試介紹他們的觀念以及他們在中國和國外所針對的公眾。
Not all intellectuals are critical or purport to speak for society. Over the last decade, a group of scholars and thinkers in China have articulated a systematic critique of liberalism. They argue for the superiority of political sovereignty over the rule of law, and the need to “repoliticize” the state, often echoing the views of the legal theorist Carl Schmitt. They have worked hand in hand with the Party-state to produce new ideas in connection with the restructuring of Hong Kong in 2020, the Centenary of the CCP in 2021 and the 20th Congress of the CCP in 2022. They appear to be popular in the tightly controlled environment of the Chinese internet. But how influential are they really? This workshop will attempt to present their ideas and the publics they address in China and abroad.
